Thinking in Education

Thinking plays a very significant role in the process of education. It takes place on three levels:

  1. autonomic level
  2. reactive level
  3. deliberative level

Each of the above levels contains a process that the brain undergoes in consequence to the outcomes aspired. The first two levels are quite simple without involving much effort, and it is not the case with deliberate thinking. The one who has tested it before have an idea about how challenging and tiring it could be. Most of the times while starting the process of deliberate thinking, we stop it by considering that we know it all.

Our mind gets closed on such a reaction and we lose our interest. Taking into consideration the work environment, at times the work done by us do not inspires us to think so as to complete our routine tasks. Training is provided to help individuals develop into a responsible citizen and they are judged by the way they carry out their responsibilities. Nothing is requested to us more than our tasks.

Sometimes our work is such that we do not need to think much. As such , our salary is given to us not because of thinking but only for performing jobs as suggested by them. Anything we do apart fro that is not required and will not be considered. Therefore, many individuals do not make use of their thinking capability that helps them to get more and more opportunity, creativity as well as productivity. At some other places, thinking is demanded and doing so properly proves to be beneficial for us.

In fact many educational systems provides instructions to students regarding thinking and the ways to do it properly. In reality, a large amount of routine work done by us do not involve much thinking process. Keeping thinking apart, routine as well as custom acts like a bypass to action.
