Biology

The term biology refers to the science of study of human beings and their body parts. Before 19nth century, biology was studied as a subject under natural objects referred as natural history. The term biology was introduced by the famous Gottfried Reinhold Treviranus. It is a part of science. Other fields that also a part of science includes physics and chemistry.

Biology is a basic subject being taught at schools as well as universities all over the world, and a large number of papers are being produced annually in various journals of biology as well as medical science. This field concentrates over the form, function, progress, beginning, evolution, distribution as well as division of all things. The foundation of modern biology is formed using five basic principles. These are: cell theory, evolution, gene theory, energy, and homeostasis .Biology is further divided into various fields like zoology, botany ,microbiology, biotechnology etc. We can classify biology in many ways. During earlier periods, various disciplines of biology are classified according to the kind of organism under study. Botany as such refers to the study related to plants while zoology refers to the study of animals.

Microbiology deals with the study related to the microorganisms. A more detailed division of such organisms is carried on regarding the scale under which different organisms are studied and the methods used for their study. Various life sciences subjects such as biochemistry, biotechnology, biophysics etc are also a part of biology. In fact study of pharmacy is also studied under this field.

Biochemistry deals with the examination of basis chemistry of life and various biochemical processes taking place in our body. On the other hand, molecular biology deals with the study of different complex interactions of systems of various biological molecules. Another field of biology includes cellular biology that deals with the study of cells ,the basic building blocks of life. On the other hand, physiology refers to various physical as well as chemical functions performed by the tissues as well as the organ systems of an individual. Ecology is a field related to biology that refers to the study of various organisms and their interrelationship with each other and with their environment.
