Bibliography

Bibliography or book writing is defined as the practice of studying books in the form of physical and cultural objects. Therefore,it is also referred as bibliology Bibliography does not only deals with the literary content of books, but it is rather concerned with the "bookness" of books. A bibliography refers to a systematic list of books as well as articles of journals. Bibliographies varies from "works cited" lists provided at the end of the books as well as articles to publications as a whole. As a different work, they may be in large volumes such as the one provided at the right, or in the form of databases of computerized bibliographic. A library catalog is also a form of bibliography, although it is not referred as a bibliography. Bibliographical works are referred to as tertiary resources. Bibliographic works vary in the quantity of detail present according to the purpose. It can be divided into two categories:

  1. Enumerative bibliography
  2. It is also referred as compilative, reference or systematic bibliography. It provides an overview of publications in different categories.

  3. Analytical bibliography
  4. I It is also called as critical bibliography. It deals with the study related to the production of books.

During previous years, the focus of bibliography was mostly on books. In the current scenario, both types of bibliography includes work done in other formats such as recordings, motion pictures as well as videos, graphic objects, databases etc.

A different kind of bibliography is called as annotated bibliography. It provides various examples of books, articles, as well as documents. Each illustration follows a brief description and a paragraph, called the annotation.

The annotation aids in informing the reader of the importance, certainty, and quality of the sources illustrated. Apart from this, a linguistic bibliography has been developed and founded by Brill On line which will be launched during 2009. This database would provide increased search facilities, along with enhanced functionalities and simple interface.
